Sunken Reliefs

Sunken Reliefs aim to produce the illusion of movement in the painting when the viewer changed his position, imitating a dream scene I dreamt in 2005. The dynamic transformation of the elements is a phenomenon, which can be observed in dreams. To reproduce this phenomenon I was looking for possible ways ans succeeded by carving forms into the wood and using the color contrasts to build the the illusion of convex figures in the painting. The illusion of the changing image on the surface was a conversion of the simultaneous, symbiotic existence of dream objects and persons. The sunken reliefs were shown in 2008 in the State Art Exhibition of Saarland.
